Exemple 1 A study sent 1600 fictitious resumes of Black and Asian applicants to entry-level job postings. Of the resumes sent, some included ethnic and racial information, while others were scrubbed of all racial and ethnic references.
Twenty-five percent of Black applicants received callbacks when all references to race and ethnicity were removed, but only 10 percent received callbacks when the information was included.
Similarly, 21 percent of Asian applicants received callbacks versus only 11.5 percent when racial and ethnic details were included.
Exemple 2 Faculty of university science departments rated male applicants for a laboratory manager position as significantly more competent and hireable than female applicants with identical resumes.
The faculty also selected a higher starting salary and offered more career mentoring to the male applicant.
