THE 9 INVITATIONS OF PAGANISM by Amanda Yates Garcia

  1. CREATE BEAUTY.
For Pagans, ethics are rooted in aesthetics. To create beauty is to enhance the magnificence of life in all its forms. Make beauty, choose beauty.

.
2. GET CONSENT.
Beauty does not force others to conform to its will. Don’t desecrate the sacredness of other people, nor diminish their sovereignty. (Side note: everything is a person).

.
3. CULTIVATE A SENSE OF AWE.
Will your action inspire a sense of interconnectedness, enchantment, and gratitude?
No? Don’t do it.

.
4. REVEL IN PLEASURE. Enjoy delight and sensual pleasure with pride. They are the gods’ gifts to us. Humans exist in order to create beauty and experience pleasure. (The gods are the material powers that combine to create life, just FYI).

.
5. WEAVE AND REPAIR THE WEB. Practice sewing harmony, interconnectedness, and regeneration of the life-force wherever you go.

.
6. PRIORITIZE THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS.
When all beings benefit there is no waste. Everything belongs.
Belonging is beautiful.

.
7. BE INEFFICIENT AT UGLINESS. Be inefficient, dawdle, avoid, and potentially even destroy everything that does not lead to beauty. Extraction, exploitation, and oppression are ugly, decline their invitation.

.
8. CELEBRATE PLURALITY.
More life forms and more life ways equal more beauty.
Monoculture and homogeneity destroy life. Avoid them.

.
9. REMEMBER YOUR DIGNITY.
You are a member of the council of all beings, like the stars, the frogs, the tornadoes, and the toadstools. Your voice has power. Use it with humility.
